[glow=red,2,300]Silhouettes.
By HuntressDiana[/glow]
The majestic figure of a woman was silhouetted against the window of a wayside inn. As soon as her daughter had left the main room, under the pretence of visiting the two cats she had been given by the late Duke of Giglia, she had assumed this position. Although the woman had to admit that the two felines were magnificent creatures, she knew full well that her daughter wasn’t going to see them for long, if at all.
Her true intentions were told by the anxious smoothing of her skirts and bodice as she walked towards the stables, and the awkward adjustments of her mask. Although she had become used to wearing the mask, her daughter had never liked it as much as she herself had. She had found it very useful, and very off putting to her enemies. There was nothing more dramatic and distracting than bright violet eyes glinting in stark contrast to a white mask; one like her daughter was wearing.
She called her new husband to her side, glad that she could clasp his hand openly, without any fear of her true identity being discovered.
“What is it?” He asked softly.
“I think her statue has just arrived.”
Rodolfo followed her gaze and saw two figures, one slim, the other taller and broader, making their way down the path.
“And perhaps I disagreeistant also?” He queried, amusement colouring his voice richly.
“It is more than likely.”
The pair was joined at the window by those who had just as much interest in the scene playing out before them as the previous Duchessa of Bellezza and her daughter’s regent.
Dottore Crinamorte chuckled softly.
“Yt is aboutte tyme for them.”
Silvia said no more, only smiled as she saw Arianna, the daughter she was so proud of, take the chance to have happiness. During her long reign as Duchessa she had refused to take a husband, at least openly. But now, watching the two silhouettes exchange a soft kiss in the moonlight, she could not remember the reasons why.
“Bellezza has a duke at last.” Rodolfo said.
“Ah, but only as a consort, and on Arianna’s terms, not as a ruler on the Di Chimi’s.” His wife reminded him, before turning away from the window to give the two sweethearts some privacy.
“Welcome Luciano, Duke consort of Bellezza, to the family. It’s about time.”
Author’s note; this was written in about half an hour and I’ve only read over it a couple of times. I’m not too sure about it yet, it may edit it later on with a couple of adjustments, but what do you think?
I may, at a later date, post this on fanfiction.net, under my usual penname of HuntressDiana, but I would like to edit it a bit more first.
