hey y'all well i finally quit being lazy and created a thread for us tamora pierce fans to discuss the books and leave the other thread for the funny stuff.
well i just finished re-reading the books and man i completely forgot how good they were! if i really had to rank i guess it'd be 1- the immortals 2-dang i still can't choose! well i loved all the characters in the SotL, and i also loved alanna. she's such a likeable character and i love the way she handles herself. not quite calm like kel, but bumbling around and fighting everything. well i guess that's why i like her so much. i love all the guys in the first 2 books-- they kinda make me think of my male friends. I never really liked the third book, but i loved liam and especially thayet and buri in the last one. they are just so cool. and george is the right guy for her, even if i thought alanna and jon were sweeter. thayet is absolutely perfect for jon, tho. she's awesome!
The immortals are my favorite. everyone i've talked to thinks daine is too perfect, but i think she's cool. I've always liked her, and numair is so sweet!! i think he's always loved her, and he just really realized it in the last 2. it's been cool watching her grow up. okay, do y'all remember in the 4th book, in the very beginning when the barrier went down, and daine and numair were talking? there was something like "he could feel her blink, as if those long lashes touched his cheek. suddenly he learned something he had never considered before. for a moment, that knowledge erased even his sense of magical cataclysm." do we think that means that he just figured out that he loved daine? and the magical cataclysm part is that he was thinking about the barrier and was distracted? tell me ur thoughts.
PotS- dang neal is hilarious! and dom is so sweet, and also very funny! kel is very cool. she's a good role model for an athlete. it's not like i want to go start swinging at things with a stick, but she worked so hard to strengthen her arms and beat the boys. i sometimes wonder if i should go out for baseball. i would only ho\pe that i'd work half as hard. she's the teensiest bit dull, but she makes up for it by being so awesome. i love raoul! he's great. I also love all the other characters, i can hardly name them all. i think this book wins the prize for the best characters.
Tricksters- after dinner. g2g!

Wow, you thought that over lots and lots! I might do the same sort of thing later on tonight once i've thought about them all, if not then, i'll do it tomorrow... Just have to get my head around it properly...
What about the Circle of magic books?? Thay're what got me back into Tamora Pierce coz i had never read the immortals series... (terrible huh)

yes well i just read them all. and now for Tricksters--
aly is awesome! people call me clever, and nothing i can dream up compares to the amazing solutions aly finds for her people. her 'spy network' is very cool. she's also wonderfully evil. she comes up with all these nasty ways to make the luarin suffer, and the prison break part of TQ-- amazing. "they won't suspect the raka" nawat is a very interesting character, as are sarai and dove and the duchessa. the duke is incredibly honorable for a luarin noble in the copper isles. too bad. i absolutely loved all the tortallan vision things! i got updated on daine and numair!!!!! veralidane salmalin! can you believe they named their new baby after rikash?? it must be crazy having a little shapeshifter!!!!!!!!!!!
i'm gonna re-read the circle books next, so expect that soon!!!

Sarralyn. The other one was Rikash (RIKASH WAS SUCH AN AWESOME CHARACTER I WAS SO MAD WHEN THE AUTHOR KILLED HIM)
There's a Tamora Pierce thread down there. Anyway.
SotL - Gary and Raoul were my favorites. Not quite sure why. Anyway. I liked this one for the characters, because they were good chars, but for some reason teh plot seemed a bit boring to me. However, I stillenjoyed it lots ^^
Immortals - Her best work, in my opinion. I loved how the animals had such distinct personalities. I love how the animals were so involved in the plot. And of course, the humor was just awesome ^^ I love humor. Cloud was awesome too, and I really liked the way she acted- like a human in a horse's body.
PotS - Kel was a good char, but she wasn't my favorite. No, my favorites were Raoul (again, wow) and Neal. They just added so much humor to the book. I loved the sparrows, they were awesome. The plotline for this one was better than SotL in my opinion, but, that's a matter of opinion, I guess.
Trickster-Loved it. Just loved it. I love to read about smart characters, but I also loved how Aly made msitakes-it mad her so much more human. Kyprioth was certainly interesting, and I... just liked the book, especially Aly as a char.
CoM (Circle of Magic, not City of Masks) - I read the first one-Sandry's. I felt like Tamora Pierce ran out of ideas and was stealing them out of the Tortall.

My favorite of her series was PoS, I think because when I read them when I was the right age. I first read SotL I think between second and third grade and I totally loved them then so I think that now I associate them with a younger age group. Not that they aren't good, I totally love them, but I think I over read them when I was younger.
I would have to say my least favorite series was the Immortals Quartet. Daine never appealed to me as much as the other characters, even though I liked them and I read them all of the Tammy books they were the ones that I was least favorite.

My ranking: 1. Immortals and Tricksters 2. PotS 3. SotL 4. Circle (as much of teh Circle as I've read, anyway)
I don't know... I jsut feel that way. I read the books quite late, but I was still able to enjoy them mostly.

Kel + Dom is... interesting, I guess. I don't know if that's what I would have voted for. Who's anti Alanna+George? (me, btw. I didn't want her with Jon either... maybe one of the other guys.)

i love dom!! and besides, who else it left?
i think i originally opposed george/alanna (cause i was all for jon/alanna) but i think TP was right b/c jon really needed thayet. alanna and jon are buddies. jon got all nervous around thayet until he got to know her and that's good.

I really think Alanna should be with Gary or Raoul and I don't know why. As for George... well, he should have married someone with similar "talents" if you ask me. Aly was still human. Maybe if he married a spy, Aly would be... a bit more. Dom is awesome, but I still can't really picture Kel with him. I was Kel+Neal almost the whole way, until Yuki came... Then I was just confused ^^ Who thinks TP should write a series about Alan (Aly's twin)? *raises hand* Or about Rikash/Sarralyn? *raises hand again* She's writing a Numair one... and one apparentlya bout George's ancestor or something. I think I'd read any of those books. And also, if anyone's intersted Tamora Pierce has a forum called Sheros that started as a discussion of her books, I think, but has branched off hugely to cover pretty much everything under the sun. In the Tamora Pierce section they do answer some questions, like whatever happened to Owen and some suff about Aly and Nawat's babies I think, so even if you don't want to post on the rest of the boards that's still worth checking out. Here's its web address- www.sheroescentral.com/dc/dcboard.phpAnd then here's one just to the thread where she answers some questions- www.sheroescentral.com/dc/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=6&topic_id=42079&mesg_id=42079&page=

My favorite out of all I've read so far [haven't even heard of The Immortals till now] is probably The Will of the Empress. I just thought it was soooo cool how all of the little Disciplinettes grew up to be so cool. Then I really liked Trickster's Queen...haven't read Tricker's Choice. Wait-confusion-so Alanna grows up to be Aly's mother? Weird. While reading SotL, I agree that the plot wasn't great. Only the momentum of my TPierce phase got me through it.

Trickster's Choice is before Trickster's Queen XDXDXD Yeah, Alanna is Aly's mother. I liked SotL because Alanna, Jon, Raoul, Gary, George, etc. are all cool charries ^^

Actually, there is another one elsewhere. It's somewhere around, and completely ancient. I didn't like the first Alanna quartet, no, actually I liked the first two, but then I thought it went downhill in 3 and 4, with the whole George/Jon thing. But I liked Daine and I liked Aly.
