I don't know how to get my birthday on the calendar, so I'm proudly telling all you lovely readers of Stravaganza that it is my birthday today! Happy birthday to Chelly, who is the only one listed.
Some people make us Taurus, but I'm definitely an Aries. in honour of which I wore my golden ram earrings today as well as the golden ram ring I always wear on my right hand.
The day began with an hour long telephone call from a journalist in Italy about The Falconer's Knot. It was conducted in Italian, after which i felt in great need of breakfast and a shower.
I finished my (late) Italian essay this morning and went out to lunch at a lovely pub on the river near Oxford, called The Trout (you see it in Inspector Morse on TV a lot). I was with husband and youngest daughter and when the manager discovered it was my birthday, he sent over three complimentary glasses of champagne, which was very jolly.
It was very sunny and we had a table outside, beside the rushing weir, and there were two peathingys doing the full display (one of them on the roof) and screeching. It was a long lunch and there was much need of a siesta afterwards so I haven't achieved much except to unpack all the summer clothes and shoes and put the winter ones away.
This is very necessary as I'm off to Italy (Bologna and Florence) on Monday and think I'm going to need them. When I get back I shall return to City of Secrets with a vengeance.
Greetings to you all.
