I should probably have said in the Away and Back thread that I was going to Crete for two weeks. (You'll notice that isn't Italy!)
Anyway I'm back now. Before I left I officially submitted a proposal for a new Stravaganza trilogy to Bloomsbury. The latest news is that they hope to give me a decision soon after 19th June about whether they want more of the books. If they do I'll post it here first.
I'm sure I've missed some good discussions here and also developments in the RPG but I've had recorded episiodes of Dr Who and ER to catch up on too. What about that ER season finale? So cruel to make us wait till next year. Now I know how all you guys felt when waiting for City of Flowers.
Anyway, back to answering the fanmail, which has piled up a bit - the problems of a writer.

Yea, Duchessa, we can commiserate!
But have they forgotten the letter Michael left for Neela (and she put in her bedside table) when he left for Iraq after leave, before they were married? I think the video was instead of that. It will be a long time before she and Ray get together; you need a decent interval after a death and it will run and run like Doug and Carol in the earlier seasons.
But what about Luka and Abby (my favourite charcater, with Neela) and the BABY! I'm sure Jerry won't die, don't worry.
And lavita I don't know your series - don't tell me ther's ANOTHEr show I need to watch. Rhiannon is always nagging me about House and Grey's Anatomy and it used to be the West Wing.
There will be no books of any kind unless I curtail my viewing!

Mary: EEK! I know...i know...they can't just get together like that...even though in my ideal world they would already BE together...*sighs*...but you're right, ER has long been master of the slow-burn...
However, incase you haven't already heard the disturbing news, John Stamos is joining the cast next season. D'you remember him? He played that paramedic, Tony Gates, who was in a couple of episodes and totally flirting with Neela the entire time. I saw in an interview with Shane West (my current TRUE LOVE...such pure unadulteraded HOTNESS!) that they're gonna be doin a love triangle between Neela, Ray and Gates...I DON'T KNOW IF I CAN STAND THE TENSION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I cannot say i am much of an abby fan, largely because I think she's dated just about every male member of the ER by now, past and present...however, i AM extremely worried about Luka (also a class A. hottie...just not quite as much as Ray) and the baby...and JERRY!!! He seriously CANNOT DIE!!!
Omg, you watch House too? That is only my FAVOURITE PROGRAMME, along with ER and, of course, Doctor Who....did you see the second foreman episode??? Omg....freaky!
Lavita: Oooh, New Tricks is dead good! But i missed the last epi! What happened?

Back to the main subject. Bloomsbury have turned down a second Stravaganza trilogy, saying that there is no market for more books. Specifically, although some of my "fans are very vocal, this is not borne out by ongoing sales."
This in spite of 170,000 UK sales plus 28 foreign language editions. I guess too many of you are sharing copies or - perish the thought - even going to libraries!
So, it's official that Bloomsbury won't publish more but I am free to go elsewhere and my agent and I have a strategy in mind so we mustn't despair yet.
Does any of you have a MySpace page? That seems to be a good way to get books, CDs, films etc. recommended.

There's always more publishers or self-publishing. So not losing hope yet. Word of mouth is always a good way of spreading interest but I'll write a review for the bbcCollective and various other things. Anyone feel like staging a protest?

Sadly, I have no Myspace, because I feel they have become an emo instituation and therefore something to be avoided at all costs, for fear of simply jumping on the bandwagon. I have an lj, but that's really not the same.
That totally sucks about them thinking there's no market for more, especially since it's so very WRONG. *stamps foot like five-year-old*
