Um, Luciano, how about no? And you know it... Arianna's perfect for you! Sorry, I do that a lot, especially with films, I talk to the screen with stuff like: "No, no, don't do that! Please don't do that!" or "Awww, no don't kiss her! The other girl's so much prettier!!!!"

Right, nearly there! Sandro gets a cameo, as do Tommaso and Angelo. Nothing major, just to remind u that they exist. wow...ps. guys, enough with the orlando bloom be-fouling of my thread!
And so, the morning passed in a flurry of arriving guests, last-minute preparations, panics over temporarily misplaced items and, all the while, a steadily increasing feeling of barely-controlled excitement. The many distinguished guests, some having travelled form distant corners of Talia to be in Bellezza today, were already filling out the Cathedral, Dukes, Duchessas, Princes, Senators, Councillors, Ambassadors and the occasional inexplicable fisherman or slightly scruffy monk. For indeed, Tommaso and Angelo, dressed in their finest, were amongst the throngs of nobility, looking acutely out of their depths, and at the back of the cathedral, in a corner, was a young Brother. Sandro gazed around the cathedral with a critical eye, not the same as in Giglia, not the same at all…for one thing, these Bellezzans had a certain fastidiousness about dogs in polished silver churches… brother dog was tied up, somewhat forlornly, outside. He looked around at the great silver mosaics, polished to perfection, and grinned to himself. What would the old Sandro do? Probably try and pry a few silver pieces from the walls….but not now. With a serene smile, Brother Sandro set off in search of his mentor.

Arianna had been pleasantly surprised when Barbara slid a flat black box out from under her bed, handing it to her reverently. “What is it?”
“Why not open the thing and see?” Silvia replied, her old humour firmly back in place to cover her momentary lapse into emotion. Arianna smiled excitedly and carefully slid the lid off the box. There, in amongst an interior of dark blue velvet lining lay a simply stunning mask. It was lace, of a sparkling silver-white shade, the eyeholes facing straight up at her, as though invisible eyes were staring at her. She gasped, half with admiration and half with something else. This beautiful mask looked intolerably familiar. “Now that is a mask!” Francesca breathed, lifting it up as carefully as if it were made of Merlino Glass. “It will go perfectly with your dress!”
“Where did it come from?” Guiditta asked, interested, despite herself. Arianna turned eagerly to Barbara who smiled slightly. “Well?”
Barbara never said a word, she simply glanced back at the open box. Arianna saw her eyes flick to the box and spun around, pouncing on it. And indeed, nestling amongst the folds of blue velvet was a little piece of paper, folded closed. She picked it up and opened it to read the words written inside.
Arianna, I don’t know if you’ll remember this, though I would hope you do. Even then, the first time we danced, I think I must have known…
Wishing I could see the look on your face…in fact, just seeing your face would be enough…
Luciano
The collection of women craned their necks, trying to see the reason for the Duchessa’s seraphic smile, her cheeks flushing with pleasure. Even when she let them see the note they did not really understand it, but she did. The first time they had danced…Carnival, almost five years ago…this was the mask she had worn then! How on earth had he remembered? But then why had she? Because it had been the first time they had danced, the first time they had properly played out their new roles, no longer scruffy boy and girl wandering the streets, Duchessa and Courtier at a grand festival. It had been the most beautiful night…how like him to find it again for her! But they wouldn’t be Duchessa and Courtier any more….now what would they be? Duchessa and Duke…the two little words together made her heart sing as she took the mask back from Francesca. “So, this is it isn’t it?”
“The last mask.”
heehee, you may love that bit or think it lame...i dunno..... oxoxooxoxoxoxoxoxxoxoxoxoox
