The fantasy genre is really starting to take off!
Have just read that the rights to Steven Donaldson's Chronicles of Thomas Covenant have been bought by Revelstone Entertainment!
Also in progress are: Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time and as most of you will know Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials scheduled for 2006 release.
At the moment HDM is in pre-production..with a discussion on the IMDB board on who should be cast, mostly Lord Asriel suggested candidates: Gary Oldman Gabriel Byrne Viggo Mortensen Sean Bean Ralph Fiennes Terrence Stamp (who coiced Lord Asriel in the Radio adaption)
So who gets your vote?

Ah yes but apparently His Dark Materials has hit loads of problems to do with:
a. funding b. All the anti-christian aspects of the books and the fact that so many christians (especially some of the major christians in the us, like the ones who banned harry potter) will hate it. c. the fact that when they suggested changing a lot of it to make it more pallateable to christians, there was uproar amongst all the HDM book lovers.
stick to the play, soooo much better. xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxx

and i think the original director dropped out but it is marked as being in pre-production as opposed to simply "announced"
i hate how anti-christian groups contradict the opinions put across in fiction. Why hate someone for their belief?

But then again, so is the Christian societies getting all huffed up over a book....so it doesn't agree with what you believe in, don't read it if you don't want to...it sometimes really annoys me.
But then again so does 'winterfest' because (apparently) Christmas offends other religions.
Pah. sorry, rant over! Lol Louise ~xXx~

Would love to know what they think they're going to call Easter.....I mean, seriously, I've been thinking about this, these are the options I've come up with so far: 1. Eggtime. 2. Bunnyday 3. Springfest
Seriously, I could go on but it's too depressing, I stopped thinking about it. Yuk!
But I'd love it if HDM came out as a film...but then the film would probably annoy me, too. I hate it when they change the plot and characters and stuff...God, what will they do to Narnia?! *sobs*

There's a sort of desperation behind it...OH, and the fact that I had just spent 2 and a half hours watching the second half of Pride and Prejudice (Colin Firth version) with HE-YOU-DON'T-WANT-ME-TO-START-TALKING-ABOUT-FOR-FEAR-I'LL-NEVER-SHUT-UP....!
Lol Louise ~xXx~ p.s. If you don't get that, be grateful and don't ask, Duchessa will kill you and me. It's more than my life's worth!
p.p.s. Especially only 16 days before the launch of COF.
