Hello! Right, this might seem a slightly strange board to have on a Stravagante sight but i guess even those of us so far into Talia that we are as good as translated need some sort of insight into other things. As well as this, I notice a lot of you (myself included) have been talking about other books in General Discussion so I would be thankful if you could move all that chatter to it's new and rightful place! Wow would you look at that...i was actually serious for a whole paragraph!!!!!! Enjoy my own little peice of board, for discussion and fanfiction of any other non-stravagante books e.t.c. (i know it's a wrench but it must be done.) xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo p.s. The following Stravagantes are obliged ON PAIN OF DEATH to use my board : Lavita, Kris (duh, and thank you btw ;D), Louise , Mary, GilmoreGirls, HD and W8ing4feb if she's still around. The rest of you, enjoy anyway! ;D

Well seeings as I am under pain of death to post here, and I rather like my life....
I personally love fanfic. It's a great way of wondering 'what if such and such happened' and then finding out. As I said in my newbie post, I write in several fandoms; Lord of the Rings, the Dark is Rising, but mostly in Tamora Pierce. I read in many more though, X-men, Buffy occasionally, I've looked at Harry Potter a couple of times, practically any book or film I really like, I'll see if there is any fanfic for it.
I personally love writing fanfic and getting reviews for what I've written. And most of the reviews are positive, although admittedly I have had a few flames, which are purely insulting reviews, they aren't constructive criticism, which I like, but usually along the lines of 'u suck!!!'.
I love writing because it's a good emotional output- especially if I'm annoyed about something that will usually come out in my writing. It's also simply fun!
Anybody else have any insights on why they write, or what they like about it?

Lavita- you said you write original fics- do you post them anywhere, I know several people who write both fanfics and original fics.
I do write original fics, but they are usually depressing one shots, which I have never posted anywhere. I think that fanfic is a good, safe place to start writing, because you can't really get flamed for the characters, as long as you do manage to keep them in character. And then when you write originals, I feel there is a greater potential for your characters to be criticised.
There is some really good fanfiction out there, inevitably there is some not so good stuff, but there are some fics I've read which seem as though it was the original author's work.

Hmm... no one's posted here in a while...
Lavita, what kind of stories do you write? Fantasy? If you are interested in publishing them online I recomment fictionpress.net. It is the companion site to fanfiction.net where I post my fics.

Well, as the Duchessa commands...i have now replied. Yes, I do write SOME fanfic, not all of it Stravaganza related. Basically, i write more my own stories, but I steal ideas from everything - real life, latest good film/book etc...that sort of thing! lol Louise ~xXx~

Lavita, I do think I've read one of your poems, Celestial dance? You posted it on here, and I haven't actually commented on it, so I will do that soon. But I thoguht it was lovely.
Louise you seem to do the same thing that I do- get inspired by practically everything you see/read. Unfortunately I so rarely write the whole fic. I have a whole page full of idea and things I may write some day, but never find the time to do so.

Allright, this is the big question. Since Remus won the fight, but apparantly didn't kill Romulus. The Reman Empire and the city of Remora were founded. In the Roman Empire the inhabitants spoke Latin. What would they speak with Remus and how would it affect the Romance??? what would Italian, Portugese, Spanish, French and Romanian be called today? Remantic Languages? How would they differ?

I believe that there would be a change but that Latin would still be spoken because Romulus escaped death during the match otherwise Romula wouldn't have been founded. I also think that the Remans would have their own language, but the Romantic languages of today would be a mix of Reman and Roman languages which in the end makes them impure and they would be Romance/Remantic languages.

Lavita, I like your personalized sentence at the bottom and it is true. There is not just one universe there are acually many sitting side by side where they constantly split because one little thing can change and the whole world changes. Like Hitler might have won the war in one world, J.F.K. might not have been killed in another and Remus might not have defeated Romulus in one, but the possibilities are endless. The road is endless too.

I haven't done fanfic before so shoot me if I start to go wrong.
Brock woke up in a cold sweat. He groggily got out of his bed and felt his feet touch hard, cold stone. The temperature of the stone woke him up fully and as he looked around, he saw that he was definitely not in his bedroom. Suddenly he remembered the night before. A man in a strange cloak left a parcel on his bed and Brock had picked it up and fell asleep with it. That must have been how he got here. "But where is here?" he wondered.
Brock noticed that he was in what seemed like a palace, with lots of servants running around. Out of the corner of his eye he saw to people, a man and a woman walking. The man looked strangely out of place but the woman did too. She wore very well made lace and had beautiful earrings in her ears, but the odd thing about this woman was that she wore a mask. The mask had the shape of what he thought looked like a Peregrine Falcon, the fastest bird to soar the skies. It was covered with coloured glass and Brock could not feel at ease when she had her mask on because the mask obscured all facial expressions.
The couple walked over and the man introduced himself. "My name is Luciano and this is Arianna, the Duchessa of Bellezza," "Where is Bellezza?" Brock asked Luciano. "We saw you drop in and this is in another world than yours, you seem to have stravagated here," the woman calmy said as if it happened all the time.
What was stravagated and where was Bellezza? Brock was full of questions.
