Okay, for all you people who are confused about Role-playing, I found a site that explains it quite well: www.geocities.com/fallfromharmony/roleplayhelp.htmlIt was for a Redwall RPG, but it doesn't really matter-They're all built on the same principles. Some of the things they say apply to some RPGs but not all. For example, the asterisks. I traditionally role-play in 3rd person past tense, but some don't. I guess we can figure out those details later...

Hello, I'm back! On a brand spanking new computer! Look for the opening of the RPG sometime in the next few days.... Peoples concerns; 1)On original characters. They will, I think, be discouraged, for the simple reason that most of them turn into mary sues. for those not knowing what a mary sue is, check out this encyclopedia article - they have an introduction, and a list of common traits; en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_SueThe problem with most mary sues, is that most authors are dead certain that their character is not a mary sue. If you constructivly critisise them, then the author either ignores you, misunderstands you, or gets very upset with you. Mary Sue writing is a very bad habit, but also a very common one of people who, although may have been writing for a long time, are still relativly new to in depth characters, multi-dimensional characters and character driven plots. Mary Sues make for a boring RP experiance - it's fun for you, but often irritates everyone else. Also, as I said, it's a bad habbit, and it's very bad writing. You cannot hope to expand and improve your writing skill - your craft - if you continue to use flat, single dimensional characters. [/rant] 2) Multiple characters. I'm going to put a limit on two characters per person. Because If you're puppeting everyone, then it means that a) nothing much happens, b) a few people tend to monopolise the game and c) it makes it hard for you to develope in depth characters if you have lots of them floating around in your head. I hope this sorts things out for people... capris? (and would someone bloody well tell me what that means?) Anni

No idea, sorry. As for the original characters, do you mean we're going to be RPing somebody who's already in the books?

that encyclopidia article was *wayyyyyy* long. I actually started reading it, but then it got to the point that my vision was getting fuzzy from staring @ the computer so long.

Er, Anni, it's "capeesh?"
Mafioso slang taken from "capisci?" (pronounced "capeeshy") Italian for "do you understand?'
So it's really just a US gangster way of saying "geddit?"
Keep me posted about the RPG; I'm intrigued!
Mary
