OK, OK, i am really excited as I have just had some really great ideas for the fanfic, but I can't do them right now! I have to wait til later in the story which is really frustrating. OK, here is the next bit:
Rosalina swung round to see Alessandro.
"High goddess, you nearly gave me a heart attack!" she gasped, then her eyes narrowed. "What the hell do you want anyway?"
He looked down at the floor.
"I'm really sorry Rosalina. About everything."
"Well, that isn't going to help now, is it? You're in their pay and I'm captured!"
"Well, though I'm going to continue working for them, I can change at least one thing. I don't think it's fair that they've kidnapped you. You ought to be able to stop us fair and square."
Rosalina rolled her eyes. "Alessandro, stop being so dramatic. This isn't about honour. Your boss has sense. Though it would be nice if you would let me go."
He laughed. "Typical you, Rosalina." she scowled. "Ok, ok, I'm sorry. Look, I'm going to help you get out and-" he felt around in his pocket, then drew out her necklace. "and return this to you."
Rosalina snatched it before he could change his mind, and put it on.
"Come on Alessandro. There's gotta be some catch! Why are you helping me?"
"Because I wish I wasn't helping them now."
"So don't!"
He gripped her shoulders tightly.
"Don't you understand? I can't stop them. They'll get me wherever I go..." he looked crazed, with wide eyes.
Rosalina tried to step back but his hands on her shoulders stopped her.
"Let go, you're hurting me!"
He stepped back.
"I'm sorry, I-" He saw that her eyes had suddenly gone out of focus as she sat on the bed.
"Who are you?" she whispered.
"Me?" he asked, puzzled. She suddenly turned and saw him.
"No, not you! I'm getting a message, from a stravagante I don't know."
"Oh." feeling stupid, he sat down on the bed beside her and watched her as she shut her eyes and concentrated.
*****
"OK, I've got her." Georgia said, leaning heavily on Cesare. "God, this is tiring."
Rosalina is that you?
The reply came instantly;
Who are you?
I'm a stravagante, a friend of Cesare's. Georgia.
Oh. I've heard of you. What do you want?
I'm iwth Cesare and-
Oh! How is he?
Fine, now listen. We've got a plan. Any minute now, Luciano, Paolo and Rodolfo are going into talk to Fabrizio. He'll be distracted while they talk to him and that gives you the opportunity to go. You'll only have to handle the guard outside your room if he's gone. And Alessandro.
Alessandro's good. He's going to help me escape though he's still working for them. Some kind of code of honour, or something stupid like that. He should be able to deal with the guard. Is that it?
What more do you want?
Nothing, just checking! OK, I'll explain to Alessandro.
Good. I don't have anymore strength to stay talking, so-
Georgia toppled with the effort and Cesare caught her.
"Are you OK?" he said, worry on his face.
"Yeah" she breathed. "I'm fine!"
"All right. Do you want to stay here while I go to the front?"
"No."
"Well let's go then!"
*******
"So you want me to lure the guard away while you run?" Alessandro asked in disbelief.
"Yeah, it shouldn't be too hard to pull off. And I don't have the time, so go! Now!"
Rosalina flopped her bed, pretending that she was full of despair again. Alessandro turned and walked out of the door.
"Guard?"
"Yes sir?"
"I want to talk to you. Away from the cell. I've got some security procedures that I don't want her to hear."
"But she couldn't hear if we talked quietly." the guard said uncomfortable, unwilling to leave his post.
"She's a stravagante, remember? They have powers." the guard shivered. "And you don't want the Grand Duke to be angry because you wouldn't come with me so I could tell you an extremely crucial procedure?"
"All right, I'll go." he turned to the cell. "I just need to lock the door. You didn't lock when you came out."
"Let me. My powers should help." Alessandro bent over the lock, pretending to turn the key. "There. That should do it. Come!"
Rosalina heard their footsteps go off down the corridor and waited a minute before bolting. The way out would be the front door because no one would be expecting her to go that way. All side exits would be heavily guarded. She ran down the steps, going for her life. She came to a curtain at the bottom of the steps and pulled it aside. She was in a part of the palace that wasn't often used. She darted off down the main steps, and came to a little room at the end of the steps. She pushed open to door and saw that she was in the main hall and the front door was in front of her. The days with little food were starting to show and she was exhausted. Rosalina could see the maids going: "Where the goddess did she come from?"
Before they could gather their wits, she raced for the door and banged on it, scrabbling for the handle. It swung open to reveal Georgia and Cesare. They grabbed her and dragged her off down the street. Rosalina was tiring, so (to her pleasure), Cesare half-carried her til they were well away down a back alley.
They stopped, and lent against a wall. Georgia sighed.
"I'm exhausted." she said, "I'm going home."
Cesare nodded. They watched as she vanished, then turned to each other.
He hugged her close.
"I am so glad you're all right!" he said.
"Likewise!" she laughed, and leaned in and kissed him.
"It's meant to be the other way round," he reminded her, "I'm meant to kiss you."
She shrugged and laughed.
"It doesn't really matter does it?"
"No, I suppose not."
To make up for it, she let him kiss her twice before tugging on his sleeve.
"Come on, let's go. I don't want to hang around for the di Chimici!"
They turned and headed for the hotel.

Duke Fabrizio lept up.
"What?" he hissed.
"She's gone! While I was talking to Alessandro about a new procedure, she ran! somehow she unlocked the door-"
"Nonsense! She must have had help!" he swung around and turned to face the stravaganti, who were edging towards the door. "You! You never meant to come to me, did you? You were just going to get her out!"
"Well done." muttered Luciano.
"What was that? Oh, it doesn't matter." he turned to his guard. "What are you waiting for? Seize them!"
The guard darted forward, yelling.
"All guards here!"
The stravaganti ran out of the door, and headed across the main hall as more guards came streaming out from different doors.
"Just get to the door!" Rodolfo panted.
"Obviously!" snapped Luciano.
"Stop talking and conserve energy!" Paolo said, in a better condition than the other two.
"You're all right, you ride with horses every day. You're actually fit!"
"Well maybe you should start!"
They got to the door and shoved it. It was still open from when Rosalina went through. They fell through and ran.
OK, that took ages to write, but I hope you like it. i don't actually think the stravaganti can have conversations telepathically like that, at least, I'm not sure, but it doesn't really matter. So long as the story's OK. ;D
