Oh dear, maybe I should put you guys out of your misery.
Tuscany is a Region of Italy, which includes Florence, Siena, Pisa and Lucca (Giglia, Remora, Moresco and Fortezza). Venice is in the Veneto, is different Region. Tuschia = Tuscany.
Is that OK?

Yeah, I think so... They had quite a few didn't they? Maybe Tuscany covered more at some point? Or maybe it's just one of Talia's differences to our world?

no..i think he only took that section because the areas in other parts of talia where their other possessions are aren't totally ruled by di chimici..so he just took the title for wuteva area he ruled fully ;D ..he obviously couldnt take talia's veneto cus he didnt have Bellezza ;D

Wow look at how quickly the topics of threads change (I've noticed this a lot) ok, to answer the nucci vs. di chimici question: I think I sided with the nucci all the time, except for where Gaetano was concerned because the di chimicis were weirdos for most of the trilogy (to me, anyway), and plus, they didn't like Arianna, and she's my favorite character. Gaetano's cool, though, because he was nice. There's more about the Talian cities in the "Talia" section of www.stravaganza.co.uk and... yeah.

*looks shocked* ..u sided with the Nucci? wow...oh well..it's not so shockin...sided with the di chimici cus they're cooler ;D ..but i hate Niccolo cus of what he did to Arianna..and Luciano....altho without his interference Luciano would've never stayed and become Duke ;D..but still. and he cheated in the duel! grr..servedhim rite....but i like fabrizio and carlo and gaetano better than the nucci brothers...carlo was just followin his fathers orders when he killed davide..so..i blame it all on Niccolo..not the di chimici in general.

I swung between supporting both... whenever the nucci were angry or upset, i was like "Poor them!" and when Duke Niccolo was suffering hardships, like with his sons, i was like "Oh no, poor them!" I'm easily swayed, but i think overall i support the nucci, aside from gaetano, and the girls... oh maybe not. Oh, I don't know!!

I feel sorry for all of both of the familys - Niccolo did what he did mostly for the continuation of his family line, and as a rash act of jelousy. Thats all. You cannot characterise an entire family as evil because of the mistakes of one man. And they were not all mistakes - Look at what Silvia did - she sent an innocent woman to her death for exactly the same reasons as the DiChimici. Every coin has two sides, every story has two view points. Mary Hoffman could have equally written a story about a valiant familys struggle to hold onto its power as it crumbles from the inside, a single city and its ruthless rulers threatening to destroy everything that their forefathers have slaved for, even died for, and the tragic love story of the head of the family trying to keep everything together in the name of honour. His forbidden love, the arrogant and beautiful princess, who leads him on then spurns him for another, and its final, tragic climax. Loyalty, Lineage, Pride and Power, woven into the blood and bones of every DiChimici, the weight of a thousand years of ancestry falling upon his son, an untrained prince, who is faced with the impossible task of uniting the family once more. I personally think it would be rather good.

Well, yeah, the di Chimici I guess weren't err... that bad, it just sort of annoys me how power-hungry they are, or at least how power hungry Niccolo was.

yeah. niccolo is a jerk, but the rest of the family is ok. u notice when the families of the brides and the brothers had their own little paragraphs, they all seemed a little exasperated w/ niccolo and his plots. and carlo was just a poor, misguided instrument, product of a barbarous, schemeing daddy-o. hee hee. so in cof i mainly sided w/ the di chimici.
now, in com and cos, thats a completely different story. hee hee. story. hee he.
o and btw, i agree w/ giulietta. it is simply *amazing* how fast these threads *completely* change topic. ;D
confusingly yours!

you've got to feel sorry for the Nucci. They lost all their sons but Filippo, but Niccolo erm... he HAD two, while he was alive. And he has a huge family in general, but the Nucci family is much smaller (it seems) so I bet Camillo and Davide meant a lot more to them. Gaetano said he might not even RECOGNIZE some of his relatives. itwas something like "I don't think he'd be able to tell the Duchessa apart from one of his nieces if she wasn't introduced"
