No, not orlando, please! Orlando is too showy, and he's too aware of his own good looks! I can't have Orlando as Luciano..... Someone new to acting would be good - they would probably be quite nervous and unsure about acting, which would be good as Lucien is the same about stravagating... well, it worked in Lord Of The Flies!

kate beckinsale is too young in personality and body - unless a stunning transformation can be made. Silvia must have diplomacy, passion and also guile. I wonder if Beckinsale could play a young Di Chimici.
what about Emma Thompson? Not sure for what role though
Liam Neeson for Rodolfo? Not a bad idea. A very good actor

NO!!!!!! JOHNNY DEPP OR RUFUS SEWELL FOR RODOLFO!!!!!!!!! And ohgodno Orlando is NOT in this film. Nowhere. Ick. I rele think unknowns shud play arianna and luciano, otherwise it'd be too sickening...i mean....like if emma watson (evil Hermione-MURDERER) got arianna i would actually kill myself......
Ok, actually, seeing as i haven't bin here for ages, here's my ideal cast in list-form (i know i've done it already but whatever)....
Rodolfo: Rufus Sewell or Johnny Depp Silvia: Gillian Anderson or Miranda Richardson Dethridge: Michael Gambon Duke Niccolo: Anthony Hopkins (a la Zorro) Enrico: Alan Cumming or maybe Adrien Brody Guido: David Tennant (just cause he HAS to be there somewhere...) Sulien: Dulè Hill Rinaldo: Alan Rickman or Geoffrey Rush Francesca: Kate Beckinsale? Guiditta: Julie Walters
Ok...sorry...had to get that out....tell me what you think and stick up your lists too!! xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxox

Oh! Johnny depp would be an awesome Rodolfo! I vote for him! lol! and i think Kate Beckinsale would be better as Francesca then Silvia, just because she's so young. I agree with the unknown thing for Luciano and Arianna. I also think that Arianna would best be Italian, just for the effect. Luciano should, obviously, be a British actor, unless others can really pull of an english accent well.
Oh! Johnny depp i think would also be good at playing Dethridge... I mean, he'd dye his hair for the role, and i'm positive he could get the ol' english accent down.

Hmmm... great list. I agree on the unknowns for Lucien/Luciano and Arianna though. I would hate it if Lucien was played by someone who could not do a british accent, because it would spoil it for me, so I would absolutely have to insist that the accents were reasonable. lol. Rufus Sewell is Count Armand from Legend of Zorro right? If so, hmm... I guess he could play Rodolfo... though I didn't exactly imagine him like that. Michael Gambon as Dethridge would be cool...way cool. He seems great for the part! Also I absolutely agree on Geoffery Rush for Rinaldo. I think Kate Beckinsale would make a good Francesca actually. OMG! Anthony Hopkins is definitely Niccolo... I totally agree. Well I don't actually *have* a list but now I've seen the one above, mine is pretty similar I gotta say. Although I kinda agree with Monica Belucci as Silvia, cos I've seen Brothers Grimm, and after seeing her in that I think she'd make a good Silvia, though I haven't seen her other movies! ~Duchessa Arianna~

Um. I have to drop in every now and again on these film discussions and say that my idea for Niccolo is Alan Rickman (not the way he looks as Snape obviously - think more Sherriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood: Prince of thieves). And I have always supported Jonny Depp or Rufus Sewell for Rodolfo and Michael Gambon for Dethridge (long before he was Dumbledore).
Unknowns foe Arianna and Luciano, voted on by the fan forum if I had my way..
And I don't know how to say this to you Duchessa but I sort of wrote Aurelio to be Orlando in a long straight black wig!
What was I thinking? It seemed a good idea at the time. Maybe by the time they make a film, he'll be able to act? Actually by then even Jonny and Rufus will have long white beards and be well past Rodolfo.
Oh well, let's keep the dream alive. Only one studio has actually turned it down and they wrote a very nice letter.

Rufus Sewell is class - just spray a few greys in his hair and he'll be fine
but Bloom-boy? Can't act for tuppence. All very well playing a seriously one-dimensional elf whose performance was not enitrely dependant on portraying the melancholy depths of the race..he just showed fighting capabilities

maybe you should put up a poll so people can vote? About the whole Adam Lamberg as Luciano... I actually always pictured him to look a lot like that, and have the same sort of shyness, but a completely different attutude, and absolutely different voice! I want unknowns for Luciano and Arianna... God I'd LOVE to play her... *dreams* but no chance, I'm already 16

Yeah..ew...unknowns for Luciano and Arianna...preferably someone Italian with english as a second language for Arianna in my opinion..or at least someone who can do the accent perfectly. I think johnny depp is alright for rodolfo as long as he's got the Italian accent down. I really don't know about anyone else..i'm kind of hoping for less well-known actors. I'd rather have people completely look the part than be famous.

Johnny Depp should play Niccolo (He's perfect for it) someone like Angelina jolie or monica bell...ushi(?) for Silvia, well not exactly but sort the "fairer" version of them, sort of a mixture of them. The skander boy from narnia should play sandro. Maybe Rachel hurd wood for Arianna, not sure tough, someone more flirty maybe someone unknown Lucien, must be unknown. hold the phone, maybe Angelina for giuditta, aah, nice. That girl in "the others" Alakina? or somthing-georgia. Rollo Weeks for casare, maybe
