Well, actually, he's not that bad... he's just too obsessed with gaining as much power as possible, but I don't think he's evil or something... maybe he's just been raised this way by his parents... (yeah, this is my psychological mind speaking, I don't like him at all )

Well, there's no one who's 100% evil... and I think he loved his children in a weird kind of way (although he was way too involved into their lifes, making them get married and stuff)
Still, I think there's some good in him... it'll probably be buried deep inside, somewhere, but it *is* there...

Well, you don't know how they felt... maybe he's just bittered because his wife died, and he was a very good father when she was alive? I don't know, because it's not mentioned, but it *is* possible.

I have always had a sweet spot for any dad. Especially when he loves his kids as much as Duke Niccolo does. I also think that the youngest of the family always seems to be the favorite, and the Duke might have also wanted to give him more attention because of his accident.

but they said he was his favourite even before the accident...and after it he just couldnt say no to any request Falco made...so he was already the favourite...maybe they were too old to really mind...but still..

Just because Falco was his favourite doesn't mean that Niccolo treated his other children like garbage

You both have really, really good points. Some of these charactors are just way complex, huh?!

Yeah, they are, but at the same time, that's what I like about the books, the characters never get boring

yea totally.....but i still stick to wut i said...sometimes i think he's entirely too occupied with his plots and plans and political affairs to think if his children in some cases or anyone else for that matter

Why? It doesn't mean that he doesn't love his children

Yeah, I think it does make him a bad father. He might love them, but that doesn't make him a good father. He puts all his plots and plans first.
